The Start Of My Journey In Fine Art With Transformational Piece - AFTERMATH

November 13, 2017  •  Leave a Comment

My journey as a fine art photographer has now officially begun. Photography, creativity and communication have always be an unexplainable passion in my life. It has taken me a long time to truly appreciate this passion and to be honest I am still mystified by it. What I am doing now though, is embracing these passions and exploring the kaleidoscope of channels we now have to share and connect through.

Not only does this herald a new channel to communicate through, but this piece is personal for me. I am currently in a transformational process my life. Becoming a parent was the catalyst that forced me to be more creative, mindful and intentional in my approach to life. My passion for photography has helped me through this transformation. This passion having been rekindled, this piece was serendipitously birthed out of this rebirth. I made a commitment to myself to enter this exhibition. I took this photo only days after committing to take professional photos more frequently by noticing novel things in my natural environment. When the theme for the exhibition was announced this image was already sitting on my computer untouched. It evolved in many different ways until it become the piece it is today.

AFTERMATH - A Caribbean Survivor's Transformational Story After 2 HurricanesStill standing after surviving 2 hurricanes and knee-high flooding. This small, resilient, blessed and vibrant paw-paw tree is the essence of the CARIBBEAN. In the middle of rebirth, giving hope during the challenging aftermath. As the light of a better tomorrow shines through, it also reminds us that as part of such a powerful transformation we need to let go of those things that no longer serve us. Die to the past.Be rebirthed.
